Paternity Mediation Lets Both Parents Stay Involved
Paternity Mediation
Mediation provides a confidential and low cost means to resolve issues arising from a paternity claim. The mediation process can begin before the baby is born, or at any time after. Paternity mediation can provide resolution for issues including support during pregnancy and medical expenses as well as child support, custody and parenting time.
Through mediation of paternity issues, the mother and putative father can enter into an agreement that will address each party's needs and responsibilities. Mediation of the paternity claim allows the parties to control any paternity testing. Paternity mediation can also be useful where mother and father are in agreement, but want a civil process to determine each person's legal right, in a controlled and civil environment. Paternity mediation is a great way for a new mother and father to start to parent the new child cooperatively.
